Womanade at The Pinehills awarded the Plymouth Education Foundation’s 2026 Visionary Award.
The Plymouth Education Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that supports educational excellence and lifelong learning. PEF solicits, manages, and distributes funds for educational purposes and activities that the Plymouth Public Schools could not otherwise afford. These funds align with the Plymouth Public School’s strategic plan.
At its recent Gala, PEF awarded Womanade at The Pinehills with its 2026 Visionary Award. This award is presented to an individual or group who has demonstrated the ability to inspire and ignite enthusiasm and whose vision for success has resulted in a positive, lasting impact on education in our community.

Womanade at The Pinehills awarded Plymouth Education Foundation’s 2026
VISIONARY AWARD
For more than 20 years, Womanade at The Pinehills has quietly helped Plymouth Public School families facing financial hardship, providing support when it is needed most. To date, the organization has provided more than $379,000 in assistance to over 500 local families and students, often without ever knowing the names of the people receiving help.
Their mission has never been about recognition, but this year, at an aviation-themed gala event at Plymouth Airport, that extraordinary work was honored with the Plymouth Education Foundation's Visionary Award.
Only the second of its kind presented by the Foundation, the award honors organizations making a meaningful difference in the lives of Plymouth students and families. For the volunteers of Womanade, the recognition was both exciting and humbling.
“All of us at Womanade were very pleased to receive the award," said incoming Womanade Board Chair Audrey Loria. "Our work is typically done behind the scenes, so this recognition was especially meaningful."
Founded by Pinehills residents as a grassroots effort, Womanade has grown into a volunteer-led organization of more than 400 members. Through educational programs, community events, grants, and donations, the organization works closely with Plymouth school staff to ensure support reaches those who need it most.
The recognition from the Plymouth Education Foundation carries special significance. Not only is the Foundation highly respected throughout the region, but many Womanade board members spent their professional lives as educators themselves.
Today, Womanade at The Pinehills continues to operate entirely through volunteers, with no paid staff.
Every presentation, fundraiser, donation, and act of support reflects the commitment of Pinehills residents who believe in helping their neighbors and strengthening the broader Plymouth community.
Congratulations to everyone involved with Womanade on this well-deserved honor.

PLYMOUTH - On Friday, April 30, 2021, members of the Womanade Outreach Committee, Carolyn McCoy and Julie Day, met with the respective varsity head coaches of the Plymouth North and Plymouth South boys lacrosse programs to gratefully receive a donation to the Outreach program.

South Shore Community Action Council Local Heroes 2020
Womanade at The Pinehills was recognized by the South Shore Community Action Council as one of their Local Heroes for 2020, at their annual Recognition Event held in October. The Director of SSCAC, Jack Cocio, had this to say about Womanade:
For 55 years, SSCAC has worked to eliminate poverty throughout the South Shore.
“As a community action agency, we partner with thousands of dedicated individuals, organizations, community groups, and companies to make a difference in the quality of life for nearly 30,000 of our less fortunate neighbors and friends. We simply cannot have the impact we do without the incredible activism of people like you, the compassionate and generous members of Womanade at The Pinehills.
Each year, SSCAC has the great honor of recognizing our Local Heroes, those individuals and groups who demonstrate commitment to their communities through extraordinary acts of goodwill. For all that you do to provide emergency assistance for families and children in the Plymouth Public Schools, we look forward to honoring Womanade at The Pinehills at our Local Heroes event in October.
Since its inception in 2007, Womanade at The Pinehills has helped nearly 350 families with assistance totaling $165,616! During times like these when so many families are struggling to get by, Womanade members quietly, yet powerfully, answer the call for help. You represent the best of community action to change lives.”
